All of our grapes come from the Farm; this beautiful piece of land that straddles the Russian River, neighbors the Mendocino National Forest and sits 1,200 feet in altitude. But we just call it home.
Our Dad, Guinness, planted the first vines here in 1970 and went on to raise us kids alongside highly sought-after grapes. Today, we proudly carry on the family tradition while representing our small valley across the country.
Since we live here on the property, farming organically means we can raise kids, hike in the hills and swim in the river without cause for concern. Turns out, it also means we can produce world-class wines.
Wine is only as good as its grapes.
Taste extraordinary terroir & 51 years of finely honed organic technique.
Bay Leaf Wreaths, Culinary Herbs, Garlic Braids, and Wild Rice
Our Dad initially started to make these non-wine products so he could keep folks employed year-round. We make Garlic Braids in late-summer before grape harvest and then we keep busy making Bay Leaf Wreaths, Garlands and Swags after harvest on through the Holidays. Throughout the rest of the year we fill in any downtime with growing and processing our Organic Herbs and packaging our Wild Rice.
What started as a means to keep our team gainfully employed has come to be a wonderful addition to our family of products. And we are delighted to bring a little of our home into yours. We hope you'll try them all and love them as much as we do!
Farming by sunlight & hydro power.
Our commitment to sustainability runs deep. In addition to our organic farming practices, we have solar panels covering the roof of the office and several outbuildings, and a fully functioning hydroelectric plant on the Russian River. Between the two sources of power, we produce renewable, clean energy far beyond our needs; enough to provide power for the homes of over 100 additional families. To us, sustainability isn’t just a catch phrase, it’s a way of life.
Another day in which to excel is upon us!
All of us kids have (mostly) fond memories of this classic Guinness-ism. It’s the driving force behind the making of the farm. One day at a time, from one product and experiment on to the next, we’ve covered a lot of ground over the last 50 years. Today, we have a variety of tried and true products that provide year-round work for the many families who call this place home. Our aim is to demonstrate terroir in all that we produce here and to leave this corner of the world better than we found it.
From our farm to your home, we hope you enjoy the bounty of this place!
